What is A Cavernous Malformation?
John Hopkins Medicine describes a Cavernous Malformation as “A cavernous malformation (CM) is an abnormal cluster of capillaries and tiny blood vessels. They periodically bleed and give rise to a “popcorn-like” lesion in the brain or spinal cord.”
What Happened to Chad?
On the afternoon of October 27, 2021 Chad Cavallaro had a seizure in his home. As a result, doctors found a life-threatening cavernoma which caused abnormal bleeding in his brain. After doing extensive research, Chad was flown to Phoenix, Arizona and treated by one of the “best brain surgeons in the world.”
While speaking at the golf tournament, he told the crowd that his scar reminds him daily why he’s still here. He went on to say that he believes that they’re here to serve in a capacity greater than themselves. This life-changing event motivated Chad and Mariah to create the Alliance Charity Golf Tournament.
About The Event
Chad and Mariah spent months planning the first ever Angioma Alliance Charity Golf Tournament at Pelican Lakes Golf Club in Windsor, Colorado. The event brought in money and awareness for people and families diagnosed with the rare disease. They donated one hundred percent of the proceeds to the Angioma Alliance, a non-profit organization devoted to research, development and aid to families.
The tournament brought together the community and raised $15,000 for the charity. As a result, Chad and Mariah are already planning another event for next year at Pelican Lakes Golf Club.
