We all started 2021 used to change. By now, we’re all pros with growth and surprises! We’ve seen so many gorgeous transformations in our salons already and predict many more to come as Spring arrives.
From curtain bangs to bold colors, we’ve compiled the top six cuts and style trends that will define Spring 2021.
1. Loving length:
Long, luscious locks are IN. It’s easier than ever to get your dream hair with the help of extensions! From tape ins to sew-in wefts, we’re seeing a huge increase in extensions for this new year. Stylist tip: Make sure you have the right products to maintain your length and keep your ends healthy. We recommend Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum and Surface’s Bassu Hydrating Oil, available in our salons.
2. Bangs, bangs and more bangs:
Staying true to the theme of change, we’re seeing so many new styles that our clients may have been nervous to try before. Whether you’ve had bangs before or this is your first time getting them, bangs are sure to be a staple of this spring.
3. Curtain bangs
Speaking of bangs, we have been seeing a lot more clients asking for curtain bangs. It’s a great way to frame your face and hop-on the bang trend without fully committing to a blunt, straight-across bang.
When styling curtain bangs, we recommend spraying R+Co’s Dallas spray through them when they’re damp, then blow dry straight with a round brush. Shake down with your hands and let it part down the middle naturally.
4. Embracing texture:
Many of us are using less heat these days and, instead, are accepting our natural hair. Expect to see more waves, curls and everything in between this spring. Put down your flat iron and pick up the mousse, like Tea Tree Lavender Mint Curl Refresh Foam, or Awapuhi Wild Ginger Hydrocream Whip instead! Playing with your natural texture is easy and provides tons of versatility.
5. The mullet:
Forget every stereotype you associate with the mullet. The 2021 version of the cut is incredibly cool. Mullets have taken on a less boxy and more feminine approach these days, with stars like Miley Cyrus rocking the cut beautifully. We recommend using R+Co’s Sand Castle texture creme, available in our salons, to define wispy pieces to further add to the easy feel of the look.
6. Pastel vivids
There’s not a lot more dramatic bright, bold hair color. We are LIVING for these changes! What better way to start 2021 than on an adventurous new foot?
For those ready to fully experiment, this is a great time to take the creative plunge! Color maintenance will be key here so make sure to see your stylist as often as you can to keep up your dream color.
